When Alexander finally arrived in the boathouse, he quickly knelt down in front of me, his eyes concerned. "Sindor, what is wrong?"

I fiercely drew my hand up across my face to wipe the blood tears away. "It's it's nothing" I lied, too embarrassed to say anything more.

"Sindor, tell me," Alexander insisted firmly, but gently. He held my shoulders lovingly with his hands.

I couldn't withhold the information from Alexander, despite how much I wanted to. "Teddy" I said shakily. "Teddy, he I I mean, he was and that's why he's like that!" I opened up my mind for Alexander to read; I was too ashamed to say anything out-loud on the matter myself. He pulled me into his arms with a silent knowing.

"And that's why he's like that" I repeated. "How can I help him? I don't even know how to help myself!"

Alexander smoothed my hair away from my face and said, "All you can do is be with him, to talk with him and be kind to him, just as I am here with you. He will heal in time."

"But what happens when I can't be here anymore?" I questioned desperately.

"Then Catherine and Marc will help Theodore," he answered.

"But Catherine does not even want to discuss it!" I countered. "How can he heal if he has to keep all of his feelings bottled up inside? He'll never get better!" I was upset; I couldn't help myself. I craved an easy solution to this problem, some way of quickly healing my newfound friend. But there was no such cure, of course.

"Do not burden yourself, Sindor, please," Alexander whispered. "You can speak with him tomorrow--He will be escorting us to Paris, where my sister, Abagail, is."

I looked up at him. "Your sister? She's still alive?" I smiled. "I'm so happy for you, Alexander! You'll get to talk to her again."

Alexander smiled back at me. "Yes, it will be very nostalgic. When Marc told me Abagail was still alive, I could not believe it at first." He kissed my forehead. "At any rate, my love, Christine is riding with us to Paris as well. She can sit with me on top of the coach, and you and Theodore can sit inside and talk. Is that all right?"

I nodded. "Thank you, Alexander and I'm sorry for being so depressed"

"Do not worry about it," he soothed. He held me for a moment longer, then asked, "Are you hungry, Sindor?"

I then remembered that we hadn't fed in quite a while. "I'm starving."

"Very well," he stood up, then pulled me to my feet. "Shall we?"

I nodded, and followed him out of the boathouse. I was not familiar with France, and had no idea which way to go to look for food, so I had to stay close to Alexander, as he knew the way. When we eventually found two persons to feed from, we quickly satisfied our thirst and then walked back to the boathouse, hand-in-hand.

We remained in the boathouse's basement that night, sleeping side-by-side. Tomorrow evening, we would embark on our journey to visit Alexander's sister Abagail.
